Is located in front of the coasts of the Atlantic Ocean, is the most western of the provinces of the Dominican Republic. It takes part of the border with Haiti and constitutes one of the economic supports of the Region called " Line Northwest ".

For being one of the most ancient villages of the country, it preserves traditions and autochthonous customs of great relief, which give a characteristic different from the others villages of the center and the south of the island.
